Research and Markets: Thailand Baby Food Market 2006-2018

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/gkfwc3/baby_food_thailand) has announced the addition of the "Baby Food Thailand" report to their offering.

Baby Food Thailand examines the trends in the baby food market for 2006-2012, with forecasts to 2018. It examines how live birth rates, breastfeeding trends, the economic crisis, new product and packaging developments, changing attitudes and safety concerns have affected the market for baby milks, cereals, meals, drinks and finger foods.

The market for baby food in Thailand grew by 31% in value terms between 2006 and 2012, to reach Baht 22.5 billion (US$ 723 million). Consumption was hit from 2009 to 2011 by higher prices, economic and political difficulties and the severe floods in late 2011, and ended the period slightly down at 44,000 tonnes.

The market is dominated by the milks sector, which, despite the falling number of births, has been stimulated by low levels of breastfeeding and the continuing success of growing-up milks, and in 2012 accounted for 93.5% of value sales. Per capita consumption of baby food rose by only 1.8% over the review period to reach 50.9kg in 2012, although expenditure per baby rose by 36.9% at current prices between 2006 and 2012.
